Tissue Culture Acclimation Kit | Your First-Step Survival Guide

The Tissue Culture Acclimation Kit, a foundational tool designed to help your high-end tissue culture plantlets transition successfully from lab to soil. If you have been hesitant to purchase rare tissue culture plants due to the high risk of morality during acclimation, this kit provides the precise microclimate needed to reduce loss and secure your investment.

Inspired by the simple “humidity cup” method used by professional growers, this kit is engineered for maximum success.

Key Features of the Acclimation Kit:

  • High-Humidity Microclimate: The dome-top clear cup creates a perfect, high-humidity, semi-enclosed environment. This prevents delicate plantlets from quickly dehydrating, which is the #1 killer during early acclimation.

  • Premium Stratum Substrate (1/4 Cup included): This kit includes Fluval Stratum, an inert, porous volcanic soil that is widely considered the ultimate “cheat code” for rooting rare aroids in tissue culture. It is rich in minerals and offers an excellent substrate for sensitive, “water-only” roots.

  • Compact and Clean: The 350ml size is optimized for single or small clusters of tissue culture plantlets, keeping them tidy and making individual monitoring simple.

  • Scalable Solution: Once your plantlets have hardened, the Fluval Stratum can easily be reuse or mixed into your larger Aroid mixes. Perlite can be added (not included) for increased aeration if desired.

Simplified Tissue Culture Acclimation Protocol

Follow this proven, 4-week protocol to secure your plantlet’s survival:

Week Action Protocol Details
Setup Preparation 1. Wash your tissue culture plantlet thoroughly to remove all nutrient agar/gel. 2. Sterilize the interior of the cup with alcohol. 3. Add the 1/4 cup of Stratum to the cup.
Pre-Plant Root Dip (Optional but Recommended) Perform a 15-minute soak in a broad-spectrum antifungal like a diluted betadine solution.
Planting Transplant Plant the plantlet gently into the center of the Stratum. Dampen the Stratum (it should be dark but not dripping). Snap the clear dome lid shut tightly. Place the cup under a gentle grow light (no direct sun).
Week 1-2 Hardening Begins Do Not Open. This creates an nearly sealed high-humidity chamber. The plants will begin to transition. Keep warm (21°C – 26°C).
Week 3 Ventilation Phase After 14 days, begin introducing drier air. Slightly crack the dome lid for just 10-15 minutes a day. Gradually increase this time over the next week. If the plant wilts, close the lid immediately.
Week 4 Final Hardening By Week 4, your goal is to leave the lid off entirely during the day, closing it only at night or if wilting occurs. At the end of Week 4, the plantlet should be fully acclimated to ambient home humidity.

Kit Contents:
